Lava Beds/The Lost Coast/Lassen Volcanic

public - created 02/25/05
The Lava Beds is a place different than any other in the world.

Lava Beds-Werner Mountains-Surprise Valley (and Lassen Volcanic)

This area is full of hot springs, wild horses, alpine lakes, white pines and its
the least populated and travelled area of california. its isolated. Its the
crossrads of the Cascade range and the great basin. All reports speak of wild
changes in waether, amazingly diverse plant and animal life, isolation, indian
wars, janpanese relocation camps, kit carson, the Oregon trail, and just to the
east a hundred or so miles - Burners!

The Lost Coast is a place different than any other in the world. Its climate and geology is different from Northern California.

I travel and hike the Lost Coast of California (Humboldt) each Memorial Day weekend – and I am sure again this year. Or year round. If you have been, please share your experiences and pictures, if you want to go – join us.
